Welcome to our project page for Tyn Y Coed BESS, a proposed new 500MW energy storage project located northeast of the village of Northop in Flintshire, Wales.
Pre-application consultation on our proposals is open between 28^th March – 25^th April. Feedback at this stage will help us to refine our plans before we submit a full planning application to Flintshire County Council.

This map shows our proposed site boundary (red line) in relation to the A55 dual carriageway. In selecting the site, we have ensured there is enough suitable land for development while also allowing a significant portion of the site to be used for landscaping and ecological enhancements.

Public Consultation

Feedback from the community, along with our ongoing environmental assessments and technical work, will help to inform our plans for Tyn Y Coed BESS.

We are committed to supporting our communities through a Community Energy Transition Foundation, which invests in those areas where we have operational sites. The Foundation receives funding from each site, proportionate to its size.

To ensure we can take your feedback into account, please engage with the pre-application consultation, and do share any comments with us by Friday 25th April 2025. We will consider all feedback we receive before we submit a planning application to Flintshire County Council.

Flintshire County Council will then conduct its own statutory consultation before determining the application.Further details of our proposals, and a virtual showroom are available in the document library below.
