Advancing biodiversity net gain

We commit to achieving over and above the legally required biodiversity net gain of 10% - aiming for at least 100% on every site, where possible.

Creating sustainable communities

Through our community benefit funds, in partnership with Evogea, we commit to providing millions in funding to the communities that host our assets, to enhance the local community with economic, social and environmental uplift programmes.

We support the community foundation Evogea

We define comprehensive programmes for transforming the communities where we operate into the most sustainable communities in the country; leveraging the opportunities of the green economy to trigger economic, environmental and social uplift.  

We are sponsors of Evogea and promote their work as an independent foundation, taking care of long-term enhancement programmes that benefit people and planet.

OUR APPROACH

Nature conservation and restoration

  • We ensure our projects are sensitively designed to respect the land we build on and the surrounding environment and communities. This starts early, from the site selection and design stages. 
  • We create new habitats across all sites to help local wildlife flourish. 
  • We retain existing trees and woodlands within the site, as best possible during design. 
  • We enhance hedgerows and ditches across our sites, and effectively manage these natural assets to boost biodiversity.

  • We are committed to supporting our communities to become the most sustainable in the UK. We do this through Evogea, an independent Foundation, which invests the money we commit in the communities where we work. 
  • We want to make sure our work makes a genuinely positive impact – be that through funding local sustainability projects, supporting the creation of new jobs, and providing environmental enhancements and recreational opportunities around our sites.
